-
Worship: Christ calls us to regular worship and sacrament as part of the rhythm of our lives.
-
Community: Christ calls us to strengthen the interconnections which God brings about between God, us and others. We do this by praying for each other, appropriately sharing important aspects of our lives, communicating clearly, lovingly holding one another accountable to our individual and community commitments, forgiving, comforting, having fun together and being open to joy.
-
Compassion: Christ calls us to love one another, all people and the earth. We act out this love by showing the world who Jesus is, inviting people in to our community, helping people in need and working for peace and justice.
-
Learning: Christ calls us to learn and grow, especially in knowledge of Scripture as it shows us who God is, who we are, and who Christ is. We learn by questioning, listening, working together, following good examples, worshipping, and attending classes.
-
Ability to Question: Christ calls us to ask questions and be open to ideas different from our own. We learn from and honor the many differences in our congregation. When we question others, we do so in such a way that we honor the presence of Christ within them. When others question us, we assume that they are trying to honor the presence of Christ in us.
-
Nurturing Families: Christ calls us to nurture families of all sorts. We do this by supporting healthy relationships and pointing to Christ's love as the foundation of all human affection.
-
Encouragement: Christ calls us to build up one another in our service of God at St. Thomas and in our daily lives. We are called to take time frequently to thank, encourage, point out excellence, offer help, pray for, and otherwise honor the movement of God in one another's lives.
